On Thursday afternoon this week, September 18, a group of concerned citizens will gather on the Congress Avenue bridge (officially, newly-renamed Ann Richards Bridge) to call attention to the upcoming Presidential debates.
We represent a diverse political spectrum. And hold divergent political opinions. But we all believe an Open Debate is an essential component of American democracy. We invite you to be a part of this movement - to call upon the two political parties to open the debates to all third party presidential campaigns.
We gather at 5:00 p.m. and hold signs and collect names for petitions to open the debates. Our plan is to do this each Thursday from 5 o’clock until dark.
We invite all third parties to join us in this common effort.

OPEN THE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES EVENT SCHEDULE
Third party candidate and open debate supporters please come out and join us! If you have any or can make any open the debates or third party candidates signs, please bring them. If you don't have any signs, we will have several extra signs on hand and we need people to help get petitions signed and pass out flyers.
THURSDAY (every week)
Austin For Nader, as well as other third party groups, will be holding Open the Presidential Debates visibility events on Austin's Congress Avenue Bridge (parking in Austin American-Statesman) every Thursday from 5:00 until about 7:30 pm. At this event we will hold "Open the Debates" and third party candidate signs, get petition signatures to open debates and pass out open debates informational flyers. Thereafter, we will meet at 8:00 pm for a weekly Open the Debates planning meeting. Meeting location is Cafe Medici on corner of 22nd and Guadalupe unless we find a coffee shop big enough and closer to Congress Ave bridge.
SATURDAY (every week)
Austin for Nader, as well as other third party groups, will be holding Open the Presidential Debates visibility events at Austin's Downtown Farmer's Market from 9am to 1pm. At this event we will hold "Open the Debates" and third party candidate signs, get petition signatures to open debates, pass out open debates informational flyers.
